Paul Haywood
I am an academic at the University of Salford, working in the School of Art and Design. I have a studio in Rochdale. My practice as an artist spans more than 20 years and covers drawing, installation and performance. My use of images is varied, informed by a range of interests and motives. Mostly I am interested in processes of collaboration and so I find that the physical legacy, the images that remain from my working processes, are quite diverse. My main obsessions are landscape capture and storytelling. The landscapes are rarely painted and come more from thinking about a specific place, either with a pencil and paper in my hands or a camera. Storytelling often takes the form of performance or experimental film. Very recently I have become fascinated by collaborative painting and have returned to the studio.
