Jill Randall
JILL RANDALL makes sculpture and installations investigating the stories and histories behind objects. Her practice investigates the nature of time through the dual preoccupations of archaeology and alchemy, and recent projects have involved collaborations with scientists and industrial processes. Randall explores the nature of time as process on material, making prints from salvaged vintage magnesium plates and copper etching plates left outside for many months in remote locations, recording the weather and the activities of animals and insects on their surfaces.
Jill Randall has exhibited her work extensively in galleries in the UK and abroad, undertaken several international residencies
including a Grizedale Forest Sculpture Residency, Cumbria, and the Irwell Valley Sculpture Trail in 2001, and been the recipient
of many individual awards. These have included a Travel Scholarship to Barcelona from the McColl Arts Foundation and a Royal Society
of Arts "Art For Architecture" Award. Recent solo exhibitions include "Secrets and Lives", Yard Gallery, Nottingham, "Light Matter",
The Lowry, Salford - a commission from the Lowry for new work resulting from an Artists residency at Magnesium Elektron, Salford.
Recent group shows have included "Ex Voto", Galeria da Restauracao, Portugal, and "Night of 1000 Drawings", Artists Space, New York.
Jill Randall has work in the collection of 20th Century Women's Art , New Hall, Cambridge, and in private collections in the USA,
